Lucky Boy Mine

June 27, 1982

Left SEHS parking lot with 11 people who were brave enough to disregard the rain threatening skies. At the trailhead above Blue River Reservoir we were joined by Mike Wright and her one person trail maintenance crew who did a fine job polishing the trail for our return trip.

The hikers on this truly beautiful trail consisted of 4 Obsidians and 18 nonmembers of all possible ages from 12 years up. The waterfalls, Lucky Boy Mine, old steam engines, machinery relics, Rialto Mine and a successful gold panning demonstration seemed to be of equal interest to all age groups.

We had lunch in the sun and took adequate time for R & R, pictures, and examining the old gold refining machinery before starting back down the trail. Before reaching the trailhead we had been slightly rained upon by a very gentle rain but nothing to be concerned about. The leader was glad to still have the same amount of followers at the end of the hike as he had had at the beginning of the hike! And those hikers were John, Lisa and Mike Davis, Barbara and Marc Doll, Barb Elsen, Jane Hackett, Rodger Keady, Justin, Rodger, and Scot Middlebrook, Connie Montgomery, Marie Mulholland, Teresa Nutt, Harlo and Mary Perrin, James Powell, Fred and Jean Richardson, Dot Leland, Ron Leland and leader Gene Thaxton.
