Castle Rock

February 24, 1982

This trip was substituted for Little Deception Rock because no one knew of a trail to the area.

After driving to the base of Cougar Dam, we headed up the-snow covered road hoping to drive to the trailhead a mile or so away. One car making it all the way; the other after much slipping and sliding forced to stop a quarter mile short. All were ready to start up the trail by 10:00 a.m., and after taking time to clear the trail of small fallen trees and limbs, were on top of Castle Rock about 12:30. With a cloudless day, warm sunshine, and a great view of the Three Sisters, we enjoyed an hour long lunch and viewing before starting for the cars. Snow hikers were John Cecil, Margaret Crosland, Wilbur Groner, Betty Legris, Ingrid Peterson, Fred Schepman, K.C. Kraft, and leader Lee Hatch.
