Heceta House, Oregon Coast

January 15-17, 1982

The leader’s optomistic prediction for another warm, clear weekend at Heceta House for our winter educational workshop was not to be. Rain fell steadily from Friday night through Sunday afternoon curtailing the planned activities.

Bill Orr shared his slides, and expertise Friday evening as regards the paleontology of Oregon. Saturday morning rains cut short the field trip to locate fossils along the beach. Saturday evening Herb Wisner shared his slides of birds of the northwest coast, but once again showers forced cancellation of the extensive, planned field trip on Sunday morning. The rains did enable us to get to know each other better as we visited, read and played indoor games . . . and ate and ate. The Saturday night potluck was the premier meal and was enjoyed by all.

Those who came to Heceta House were Doris Allen, Blanche Bailey, Bernie Claypool, Harriet DeGuires, Bob Devine, Jack and Joella Ewing, K. C. Kraft, Betty Legris, Bonnie Ledford, Margaret Markley, Glenn Meares, Elizabeth McMullin, Lee Pruitt, Lois Schreiner, Frank and Maryelton Schutz, Dan and Winona Sellard and leader Joe Lowry. Also Bi11 Orr and daughter Jean, and Ruth and Herb Wisner.
