South Hills of EugeneJanuary 10, 1982Our very low-elevation hike around Eugene’s southeast hills (substituting for the scheduled but snowbound Jones Trail) set off with a quorum of four. In places along our power line/N.W. Natural Gas corridor route snowshoes would have been welcome, skis not inappropriate on the down slopes, and ice skates a luxury for crossing the forecourt of Denny’s Restaurant (I-5), our destination. In the event, hiking boots sufficed . . . a very enjoyable hike (nine miles r.t.) on a viewless day. Low elevation hikers were Margaret Crosland, Betty Legris, Lee Hatch and leader John Cecil. |
