December 16, 1981
How the Trips Committee managed to schedule this trip a month ago for the
first sunny day after two weeks of steady rain, I’ll never know.
But they could not have picked a more beautiful December day.
After driving to the base of Cougar Dam, we took a short road to the
O’Leary Trailhead and soon were on the Castle Rock Trail.
One unbridged stream crossing and an hour and a half hike, and we were having
lunch in the sun on Castle Rock.
Returning to the cars at 3:30 p.m. were Margaret Crosland, Wilbur Groner
and leader Lee Hatch.
