Obsidian Loop

August 22, 1981

An early start on the Obsidian Loop trip led to an adventurous, beautiful day. The group shared coffee cake at McKenzie Bridge rest stop with two English bikers who had biked from the east coast. Five Obsidian members and four guests enjoyed the many different views and variety of terrain on the Obsidian Loop trail. An enjoyable lunch time was spent at the Penthouse viewing the Three Sisters, Mt. Washington, Three Fingered Jack, Mt. Jefferson and an out line of Hood. John Fry, Ellen Cronkrite, Erica Boston, Nancie Fadeley, Millard Thomas, Joyce Brooker, Ruth and Wayne Lill, and leader Maude Caldwell all returned to Frog Camp feeling better after an 11-mile hike which is a sign of a good hike—a good day. The group was pleased to talk with a wilderness worker who spoke highly of Obsidian hikers!
