Iron MountainJune 27, 1981We started with 11 people, joined with a party from Eugene Parks and Recreation lead by Rhoda Love for a total of 22 people. We had beautiful weather, but the flowers were late again this year due to the late rains. We watched bees in some of the flowers, were buzzed by a humming bird and had an enjoyable time with the flowers and a very interested party. Slash burning nearby added to haze from the valley, but all peaks were visible from Rainier to South Sister. We stopped at Sahalie Falls on the way home, and found that the falls are still beautiful — it is just the viewing area that looks clear-out. Obsidian trippers were Mary Lou Baker, Bob Kingsley, Marjorie Jackson, Frances Newsom, Barbara Possman, Ted Stern, Evelyn Schmitt, David Predeek, Dorothy Tate, Bob Wearne and leaders Ken and Robin Lodewick. |
