McKenzie River-Buck Creek to Trailbridge Campground

May 31, 1981

A nine a.m. call time and the setting of a shuttle put us on the trail at Buck Creek at 11 :15 a.m. Thank you Carol Wayne and Harlo Perrin for driving. Due to illness of scheduled leader Margaret Hadaway, substitute leader Wilbur Groner led the trip with Obsidian Sandra Larsen serving as rear guard. About noon we passed a couple just finishing lunch. An inquiry about feeding us brought a negative response. On USFS road 610 a doe looked us over decided we didn’t amount to much in the world of deer and slowly continued on her way. We lunched at 12:20 in the shade of the large trees and on the shoreline of the river. A fisherman at Deer Creek and a two-man raft on the river evinced no interest in us. A report of a dumping of fish had brought a large turnout at Trailbridge Reservoir. Reversing the shuttle we headed home with one car detained by blueberry cobbler at the Logger (McKenzie Bridge). Home at 5:30. A warm Spring day, the rushing beauty of the upper McKenzie and an amiable company made a happy experience for Genie Currier, Sandra Larsen, Linda Buie, Carol Wayne, Jean Holmes, Harlo Perrin, Marty Perrin, Celeste Wayne and leader Wilbur Groner.
