Our Potato Hill expedition left Eugene on a sunny Sunday morning with great expectations. The weather report for the previous day had been ominous — rain — but we decided to risk it. Arriving at the trail head at mid-morning we discovered that indeed it was still raining and that the trail would hardly be adequate for skiing.
The group traveled on to Sisters for coffee. At this point half of our party decided to continue on to Bend for skiing. The rest remained in Sisters to explore its art gallery and eventually ended up at the source of the Metolius River.
Even though some of us didn’t step foot or ski on the snow, the company was interesting, the conversation was lively and a good time was had by all.
Participants were: Grant Alvestad, Pat Alvestad, Emmy Dale, Bob Devine, Jack Ewing, Joella Hadland, Dorothy Hayes, Kathy Henderson, Mary Jo Hogan, Mary Ellen de la Pena, Parker Riddle, Gene Thaxton, Kathi Stroh (leader).
