Little Bunchgrass Meadow
December 20, 1980
Six of us made the trip.
The outing was very successful in spite of the unexpected absence of snow.
We hiked up Owl Cabin Way to the Bunchgrass Ridge, climbing 1,400 vertical
feet in one mile.
The only snow encountered was in Little Bunchgrass Meadow with about four
inches blanketing this beautiful place.
Facing an overwhelming array of fine Christmas Trees we finally each chose
a symmetrical sub-alpine fir, ate lunch and made the return hike carrying
The weather cooperated beautifully with summer-like temperatures, and some sunshine.
The good companionship made it a most pleasant and memorable outing.
Christmas Tree searchers were David Nicholi, Alice Love, Mary Murphy, Glenn Miller,
Ruth Williams, and leader Jerold Williams.
