Tire Mountain

December 7, 1980

Because of the heavy snow during the week, we were not too sure how close we could get to the Tire Mountain Trail. All agreed we should give it a try so we headed for Lowell and the Carpet Hill Road. About a half mile from the trailhead, the snow became too deep so we walked the rest of the way and were on the trail in six inches of powder snow by 10:30 a.m. We arrived at the site of the old lookout in time for lunch in bright sunshine and two feet of snow.

Out to the cars at 3:30 p.m. were Barry Beck, John Cecil, Margaret Crosland, Bob Gaeser, Betty Legris and leader Lee Hatch.
