McKenzie River Trail
November 8, 1980
It was a WET WET day but 5 Obsidians (2 from Eugene, 3 from McKenzie Bridge)
and 3 guests met at Jennie B. Harris Wayside at McKenzie Bridge.
We proceeded to Carpenter Road where we picked up the trail.
Dressed in our various types of rain gear at 9:45 a.m. we started down the trail
in the rain.
We saw mushrooms of all kinds, some of which Paula knew were edible.
The weather cooperated and the rain let up while we had Lunch after crossing
the bridge over Deer Creek at noon.
We were all in very good spirits in spite of the rain and enjoying the walk
through the woods.
The river was really beautiful all the way, the rains had made all the creeks
full adding their strength to the McKenzie River.
We arrived at Trailbridge six miles from our starting point at 2:00 p.m. where
the car we had left that morning was waiting.
The happy wet hikers were Joan Benson, Harold Harris, Bob and Bee Meserole,
Lori Scott, Paula Vehrs and leaders Lonnie and Carol Bourgerie.
