Little Cowhorn Lookout

November 2, 1980

A rainy forecast, but actually good weather, saw our party of 8 take the (very) long route to Little Cowhorn Mnt. Lookout in the Fall Creek area. Starting at Bedrock C.G. (shrouded in mist) and on up the Fall Creek and then the Jones Trails took us to Forest Service Rd. 1817. A further four miles saw us at the usual Starting point for this hike!! On up through past the pillars we were at this always delightful F.S. Lookout, clean and unvandalized as yet (just 1 broken window). A quick lunch, and we retraced our steps, with some personal variations. Darkness approached, and fell, but the sign-up admonition of “flashlights required” paid off, and our complete party (tired, but in good fettle) was re-united back at Bedrock Camp Ground.

Long-distance “Little Cowhorners” were Margaret Crosland, Cathy Ellis, Bob Foster, Wilbur Groner, Lee Hatch, Betty Legris, Ruth Romoser, and leader John Cecil.
