Castle Rock

October 26, 1980

We were scheduled for Lowder Mtn, but poor weather made a change in destination prudent. We chose Castle Rock, closer and at lower elevation, but still we found snow on top. The trail offers 3 starting places for hikes of l, 3, or 8 miles. Despite a cold, persistent rain, we chose the longest route, not necessarily a unanimous decision. Lunch time was cold and wet, (hikers, same description), but half an hour of good fast walking got us reasonably warm again. This was the first time on this trail for all of us except Merle who did a good job as guide. Thoroughly wet hikers were John Cecil, Bob Foster, Merle Traudt, and leader Betty Legris.
