PCNST Timberline Lodge to Columbia

July 26-August 1, 1980

This was probably the most scenic of all the Crest Trail trips that we have made since we started at Green Springs Summit in 1974.

Highlights of this trip were Mt. Hood, Reid Glacier Canyon, Muddy Fork, Sandy Glacier, numerous waterfalls, and the Eagle Creek trail, along with good views of Mt. St. Helens, Rainier, and Mt. Adams.

We celebrated with a picnic at the end of the trail (what was in that bottle that made the cork pop 40 ft. high after lying in a car all week???)

Merle Traudt and Wes Prouty (co-leader) have made all the trips since starting in 1974. Others on this year’s trip were: Doris Allen, Mary Bridgeman, Emmy Dale, Bea Fontana (co-leader), Dorothy Hayes, Glenn Meares and Paula Vehrs.
