April 27, 1980
Since our leader was unable to go, we arranged to meet at
Smith Rocks at 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning.
One car spent Saturday night at Tumalo Falls and the other stayed
at Haystack Reservoir and saw Mt. Jefferson reflected in the lake.
Sunday was a beautiful day; the hike was hot and strenuous but when
we reached the heights the views of mountains, cliffs and canyons
were well worth the effort.
An interesting sight was dozens of rock climbers hanging by pitons
and ropes or resting on ledges.
We were back at our cars by 3:30 p.m. and headed for home.
Enjoying the rocks were Anne Montgomery, Ethel and Robin Steussy,
and leaders Dorothy & Clarence Scherer.
