Brownsville and Clear Lake loop historical auto trip

April 19, 1980

It was a dry but cloudy spring day, when all of us left the parking lot in two cars. We followed the McKenzie River to Clear Lake with stops at the Rustic Skillet for donuts and coffee, and at both Koosah and Sahalie Falls. Both falls were spectacular this time of year. Traveling down the Santiam we enjoyed lunch at beautiful House Rock Camp Park, and then proceeded on through Sweethome to Brownsville.

At Brownsville, both the museum and McIver House were of special Historic interest to us. There was also time to browse in a nearby antique shop.

Especially enjoyable were the flowering fruit trees and the blossoming Dogwoods. Returning to Springfield and Eugene, we came through Crawfordsville, Mable and Marcola. Cars were driven by Clarence Scherer and Hazen Bressler (leader).

Those attending were Hazen and Lorene Bressler (leaders), Bob Foster, Helen Lynch, Dorothy and Clarence Scherer — all members. Nonmember Betty Stewart also enjoyed the trip.
