Shot Gun Creek Trail

January 27, 1980

0n a sunny cold morning, seven hikers and one 19 month old child left at 10 a.m. for Shot Gun Creek Recreation Park. Since it had been down to 12°F there that night, we were not bothered by mud and the ferns and moss were bright in the warm sun. We were told by a BLM attendant of the newly built trail to the top of the ridge and we found this a very beautiful addition to what is one of the nicest trails in Lane County.

After a noon lunch on top, a quick trip down, we got back to Eugene about 3 p.m. If you want a hike of either 2 miles, 4 miles or 7 miles, you shouldn’t miss this place — you can select one section or all — putting together a hike of either length you choose.

Those along were: Don and Kathy Cordon, and their 19 month old son Chris, Norma Corr, Ethel Steussey, plus: Clarence and Dorothy Scherer, leaders.
