Craig Lake

August 11, 1979

Craig is a delightful small lake a short distance cross country from the old Jack shelter site. Because of its situation on a ledge above the approach terrain and because the map shows no trail, we saw no one after leaving the Santiam Trail. Much surrounding territory was explored before we reached the lake shortly after noon. The water was warm for wading, and the excellent view of Three Fingered Jack was enjoyed before starting the return trip. The comment was made that the feel of the area is similar to that at the Lower Berley. Craig Lake should be visited by Obsidians more often, especially by prospective trip leaders.

Craigers who enjoyed the tine sun and light breeze were: Judy Carmody, Sharon Farley, Wilbur Groner, Joanne Haines, Elizabeth McMullen, Karen Seidel and Helen Hughes, leader.
