Saddle MountainJune 23-24, 1979Participants for this trip converged at Saddle Mtn. State Park at their own pleasure since there were so few signed up; we left earlier on Saturday and one car went on to Astoria to take in the sights. Helen Hughes and her friends drove down from Portland and met us Saturday night. We left about 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning for the top of the mountain. The weather was clear and beautiful, the trail was in good shape, and as was hoped, the flowers were everywhere. We felt we were indeed fortunate to have such clear and beautiful weather for the view from the top. Leader had her first experience waiting in line (45 minutes) for gas in Tillamook Sunday on the way home! Saddle mountaineers were Gladys Grancorvitz, Helen Hughes, Bonnie Ledford, Evelyn & Cranson Fosburg, and leader Elizabeth McMullin. |
