Gordon Meadows to Gordon Lakes

June 9, 1979

After two mistakes by the leader—not leaving town as early as we should have, and starting down the trail via a short-cut through brush—the trip went very well. The three miles into the lakes is quite an obstacle course due to up and down terrain with several creek crossings on small logs or with long jumps.

From road 2032 we took road 365 to the Soapgrass trailhead. A short distance up that trail took us to a point where we could hop over a creek (or walk a log or get wet) to the Gordon Lakes trail which starts in Gordon Meadow.

After departing from the cars at 11:00, 14 of the party of 17 arrived at the lower lake at 1:30. After a 45-minute lunch break, we reversed the whole process for the return trip. Spring flowers, meadows, creeks, and lakes were enjoyed by Doris Allen, Mary Bridgeman, Bob Capron, Jean & Donn Chase, Catherine Jones, Helen Hughes, Helen Lynch, Vern Nelson, Lois Schreiner, Charlene Simpson, Helen Smith, Merle Traudt, Paula Vehrs, Yvonne Young, Margaret Wiese, and leader Wes Prouty.
