Hardesty to June via Sawtooth Trail

A bright, sunny Sunday morning and nine members set out promptly, first stop top
end of Crale Creek Road.
A mad little scramble up a sharp, steep bank saw us on the well-kept and
A brief stop-at the site of the former Lookout and on to far distant Mount June via
the Sawtooth Trail, but too early for the many rhododendrons abounding the trail.
Arriving at the old Mt. June Lookout, “overcrowded” by other parties,
and leisurely lunch followed.
The usual “what’s-that-mountain- ” discussion started; one of
these days a member will be along to rattle off accurately, decisively and
authoritatively each major (and some minor) peak on the horizon . . .
Back along past Sawtooth Rock, and the whole party lay horizontal, gasping, on the
cool grass at Hardesty Trail Junction.
A vigorous day; great company; a great hike.
