Gold Point

April 8, 1979

Almost certain prospects of rain did not deter our congenial group of 21. We left the parking lot at 0815 and arrived at the trailhead at 0915. We hiked through damp and foggy woods, noting trilia and a few other wildflowers. The summit was reached by the last of the party at 1215. By then we were above the fog and had good views of the territory. There were a few snow patches near the summit. A steady drizzle set in as we began to descend, but the heavy rain held off until we were in the cars at about 1500. The last cars reached Eugene at 1605. Our happy and almost dry party consisted of Willie Bronson, John Cecil, Judy Carmody, Margaret Crosland, Emmy Dale, Bob Devine, Roger Goodwin, Lee Hatch, Liz & Ted Igl, Bobby Kalbfleisch, Betty Legris, Art Porter, Ruth Romoser, Helen Smith, Robin Steussy, Merle Traudt, Paula Vehrs, Bob Walden, Mike Wright, and leader Joel McClure.
