Summit Lake RoadMarch 4, 1978Left Eugene shortly after 8:00 a.m. and drove to the Pioneer Gulch area above Hills Creek Dam at which point the possibility of being out of snow as we proceeded, prompted us to head for Summit Lake. We drove 4 miles from the Lake and once on our skis were able to keep on snow as we went. In a short distance the depth of the snow increased considerably. The day was mostly sunny and made an enjoyable trip. Merle and Jim were within a mile of the lake. We were back to the cars at 3:00 p.m. and home by 6:00. This trip was originally set for Saddle Blanket. Those enjoying the switch were Jim Atchley, Merle Traudt, Lois and Bill Morse, and leader Frank Moore. |
