Fairview PeakJanuary 29, 1978Fairview Peak can either be a long, strenuous trip, or easy, depending upon the snow level. This time it was the latter due to the warm weather of January, and the fact that Fairview Peak and the Bohemia District are farther south than most of our skiing areas. Something in its favor—the round trip is only 95 miles, a little over half the distance to Santiam Pass. The day was warm and sunny, the trip short and pleasant. We only had to travel about 1½ miles to reach the lookout. After having lunch there, we skied back to the car, over mostly icy snow, arriving home about 2:00 p.m. Skiers were Pat Horton, Jim Primrose, and Jack Nitzel, leader. |
