Fifteen people left the parking lot at 19th & Patterson at 9:15 a.m. Saturday the 25th for the Coburg Hills and “Old Baldy.” The weather Saturday was overcast and foggy; this was the condition for the day, except that it was foggier around “Old Baldy.” Visibility was very poor throughout the day.
Most of us arrived at the top of “Old Baldy” around 1:30. We were rewarded by a brief glimpse of the sky before we began our hike.
Thanks to the help of Parker Riddle and his son Arran, who marked the trail on the way in, we had an easy and direct hike out.
There was a search for mistletoe on the way out and with the help of Merle Traudt’s walking stick and Roger Hine’s height, everyone who wanted some got it. We all arrived back at South around 3:45 having had a very damp but good time. The hikers were: Willy Beplat, Joyce Brooker, Lance Brooker, Tim Borgen, Elaine Hine, Roger Hine, Karen Houglum, Marilyn Neil, Vern Nelson, Parker Riddle, Arran Riddle, Helen Robbins, Bonnie Uffman and leader Jane Hackett.
