Lower McKenzie River Trail

November 18, 1978

We started shortly after 9:00 a.m. on an overcast day. Most hikers were “dumped” at the lower trailhead while cars were taken to trail access about five miles up road. When drivers returned in one car, we started out at a good pace to keep warm. Lovely walk along river and rain-forest-like conditions. Several blow-down on trail, but evidence that these were being cleared, being worked north to south. Ate lunch sitting on blow-down logs, and twenty minutes later came to a lovely lunch spot at Lost Creek, complete with picnic table and footbridge. Several good footbridge crossings of creeks on trail for Angie Barta, Maude Caldwell, Gladys Grancorvitz, Roger Hine, Joyce Mitchell, Parker Riddle, Merle Traudt, Eleanor Wilkerson, and leader Bonnie Ledford.
