Mirror Lakes

August 9, 1978

This trip was supposed to be to Rock Mesa, but time ran out so looked at it from a distance. It was a new area for most of us, so all were in high spirits and it was most interesting. It was a good eight miles to the hike. The day was cloudy so didn’t see the South Sister mirrored in the lake. Then too, there were some horseback riders in by the lake. The most invigorating part of the hike was the drink of water at Tyee Creek when we got back to where we had parked our cars. There were Dipper birds on this little creek also. Hikers from Surmer Camp were Dolores Haddad, Helen Hughes, Catherine Jones, Margaret Markley, Eunice Mickel, John and Lenore McManigal, Sig Otto, Pat Pattison, Margaret Wiese, Everett Ow, & leader Art Johnson.
