Cone Peak

June 17, 1978

The nineteen hikers hit a beautiful day. More than fifty species of wild flowers were identified along the way and the snow peaks from Mt. Adams to Mt. Thielsen were visible. The trail is excellent to the bench below Cone Peak. From there it is relatively easy to pick a way up the side of the peak. We spent a relaxed hour or more on top before returning to the cars by the same route. Those nineteen were Anne & John Bonine, Emmy Dale, Heide Didwiszus, Pat Diller, Barbara Durchanek, Donna Ferchland, Wilbur Groner, Joella Hadland, Clarence Landes, Betty Legris, Dorothy Leland, Elizabeth McMullin, Lois Schreiner, Velma Shirk, Ted Stern, Paula Vehrs, Margaret Wiese and leader Catherine Jones.
