Blair Lake

June 4, 1978

Spectacular views and lots of wild flowers highlighted this trip into the Blair Lake area. After arriving at the Lake, plans for driving further on another logging road were abandoned and, thanks to Mike Wright, who knew how to reach the trail from the Lake, we decided to hike up Mule Mountain and back. This turned out to be slightly more elevation than we expected, but a lovely 2½ mile hike through woods and meadows where Diamond Peak, Mt. Jefferson & the Three Sisters could be seen.

There was still lots of snow on the trail and the road we had originally planned to take the cars was blocked by snow. We arrived back at the Lake about 3:00 p.m. and it was quite warm so some went swimming and wading before leaving for home. This is a new and interesting area that the Obsidians have not visited often and would bear exploring further. Hikers were Shirley Driver, Florence Dull, Jane Hilt, Kay & Al Hoffman, John Hosking, Karen Houglum, Ron & Dot Leland, Joe Lowry, Lin Trombley, Mary Ellen West, Mike, Lori & Cindy Wright plus friends Colleen, Cathy & Ralph, and leader Bette Hack.
