Lowder MountainJune 3, 1978The day turned clear and warm with a few drifting white clouds, our access road was very dusty, but we found the trail in excellent condition. Some of the flowers along the way were identified as trillium, paintbrush, larkspur, phlox and the dogwood tree was flowering at lower elevations. We found one to two feet of snow on the summit with scattered clear spots. The view was a bit hazy, but we could clearly see all the Cascades north to south from Jefferson to Diamond Peak. The group spent an hour on top for lunch and were out to the trailhead by three and home by five. A very enjoyable day. On top of Lowder were Helen Aldrich, Angie Barta, Carol and Lonnie Bourgerie, Marg (Brett) Brittain, Diane Bush, Barbara Durchanek, Lauri Harris, Dorothy Hayes, Betty Legris, Bob Mann, Rachel Major, Dave McCracken, Elizabeth McMullin, Ardice and Spencer Mick, Helen Miller, Ralph Nafziger, Vern Nelson, Bob Nordahl, Art Porter, Anne Raftree, Karen Seidel, Lois Schreiner, Merle Traudt, Jim Wood, and leader Parker Riddle. |
