Cascade Head

May 6, 1978

Our happy group of nine was favored with fine weather. We drove by way of the Buena Vista ferry, arriving at the trail head at 1115. We passed through the rain forest out onto the open pasture, identifying about eight kinds of wildflowers. The view from the Head was spectacular. About nine sea, lions were spotted, but no whales. We arrived on the Head about 1240, had lunch, and enjoyed the view until 1400. We strolled back to the cars, arriving about 1500. We encountered about 40 other hikers in about eight parties, all being cheerful and well-behaved. We drove back by way of Corvallis and Peoria, arriving home at 1800. Enjoying the outing were Gladys Grancorvitz, Marilyn Hartmann, Karen Houglum, Ted Stern, Merle Traudt, Andy, Blanch, Jacquie and Joel McClure, leader.
