McKenzie River Trail, Part 2April 15, 1978Threats of 60% rain had not materialized as we left the parking lot and even supplied some sun during the morning. Showers started briefly during lunch stop and then stopped until the last half mile of hiking. Rained all the way home. The flowers are early this year and we saw many more along the trail than in previous years. The calypso orchids were very common, trilliums, anemones, flowering current, huckleberry and many others were in bloom. One small animal, unidentified, was seen and there were numerous birds. Enjoying the trek were Angie Barta, Diane Bush, Joan and Steve Chipman, Barbara Combs, Emmy Dale, Donna Ferchland, Gladys Grancorvitz, Marilyn Hanson, Joe Lowry, Bonnie Ledford, Art Porter, Helen Smith, Barbara Durchanek, Lin Trombley and leaders Ken and Robin Lodewick. |
