Mt. Adams (South Side)

August 12-13, 1978

Camped 8,000 feet. Frosted during the night. Left camp at 5:00 a.m. Icy and slow. Clear skies overhead; clouds all around and below about 9,000 feet. We reached the summit at 10:30 a.m. We had two thousand feet of swift, wet, bumpy glissades on the descent, then into thick clouds for a compass course back to camp. Reached the cars at 300 p.m. Climbers were Vic Bellotti, Dave Lewinsohn, Bill & Maxine McWhorter, Rob Scherer, Larry Tucker and leader Bert Ewing.
