Diamond PeakJuly 28-29, 1978The climbing group assembled at Summit Lake south of Diamond Peak late evening of Friday, July 28th. At 6:15 a.m. we started north along the Pacific Crest Trail to the southeast corner of Diamond Peak, then took off up the mountain. The weather was very nice and we could see from Mt. McLoughlin to Mt. Hood. Arrived at the top soon after 11 o’clock and rested for nearly an hour. We arrived back at Summit Lake by 4:00 p.m. and most took a dip in the lake. Mosquitoes were numerous. Climbing were Elaine and Richard Barrar, Bev, Lloyd & Mike Lindley, Jan Middleswart, Nancy White, and leader Ewart Baldwin. |
