Mt. WashingtonJune 18, 1978To help avoid any big crowds we made this a Saturday climb. Leaving Eugene Friday evening, our party drove to the Patjens Lakes trailhead. With an early start Saturday morning our party reached the saddle at 9:00 a.m. Sam Miller reached the saddle before we did with a separate party of his own. So we waited anyway. It was a perfect day, so the wait wasn’t unpleasant. After roping up the first pitch, I was surprised to see Sam and his party already heading down, so we had to wait once more until his party got out of the way. Once on top the view was clear, the weather perfect, making it a good climb. The snow on the way down made it a fun trip down. Those on the trip were Rich Litchfield, John & Bobby Moffitt, Shawn Reisgaard, Rob Scherer and leader Steven McManigal. |
