Crater LakeApril 2-3, 1977This trip was made on what was probably the last weekend of ski touring at Crater Lake—bare patches are appearing on the rim highway. We had pleasant weather, with cold mornings and warm afternoons. Saturday, a short but pleasant trip to camp near the Watchman allowed time to practice technique and enjoy the scenery. An early start Sunday, before the weather became hot, allowed the group? (only two participants on this trip) to take advantage of ideal snow conditions for more touring to the vicinity of Hileman Peak. Overnighters were John Hermannsson and leader Jack Nitzel. |
