Link Lake Ski-SnowshoeJanuary 9, 1977Trip was originally scheduled for Windy Point, on Hwy 242 from Sisters. A phone call to Sisters Ranger Station informed us that snowmobiles and 4-wheel drives were using that area. We followed their suggestion and changed destination to Meadow Lake. We parked cars at chain-up turn-out on Santiam Hwy, ½ mile east of Summit trailhead. We headed due South from that point toward Meadow Lake via old Blue Lake trail and roads in that area. We arrived at Link Lake at noon for lunch in sunshine. Six members of party then went ½ mile beyond Link Lake for a good view of Mt. Washington. Entire party of 13 returned to cars by 3:15 over eight inches of ideal snow under partly cloudy skies. Mary Bridgeman, Dorothy Hayes, Bev Juilfs, Pete Klein, Dot Leland, Joe Lowry, Dave Predeek, Wes Prouty (leader), Parker Riddle, Ruth Romoser, Wayne Seamans, Scott Shepherd and Merle Traudt enjoyed the trip. |
