Baby Rock, Salt Creek
December 10, 1977
Very nice overnight trip, leaving South Eugene at 6:30 Friday evening
in two cars.
Dinner at Harm’s Way in Oakridge, arriving at Chase cabin on Salt
Creek about 8:30 p.m.
Played Yahtzee and ate popcorn until 11:30, then turned in.
Leader served continental breakfast, then short drive to trailhead.
Beautiful winter day in full sunshine.
Reached cliff in back of Baby Rock at 11:00 a.m.
Wes climbed free hand to Belay Point, then the rest of the party followed
Lunch on top.
The party rappelled down the cliff, most using Wes’s harness;
the leader, being old fashioned, didn’t, and burned his hands.
Back along railroad track to cars.
Coffee and tea break at cabin, then home.
