Ash Swale & Eagle Rest

November 5, 1977

We arrived at Ash Swale Trail Head at 10:00 a.m. and started for Eagle Rest in heavy rain. The trail to the shelter was badly overgrown with fern and salal, and only yellow markers on the trees made it possible to follow. After a short rest at the shelter we continued on to Eagle Rest. No view of anything except rain and fog, so headed back for shelter and lunch. Hikers Barbara Combs, Liontor Dimetri and leader Lee Hatch got back to the car at 3:00 p.m.
