Saddleblanket Mountain

October 9, 1977

Three hardy souls left Eugene at 0830 with slightly overcast skies that soon burnt off when we left the valley. After looking at the Little Blanket Shelter, we hiked the 1.6 miles along the Saddleblanket Trail which has a moderate grade through several mountain meadows. We had lunch on top where an 80-foot high lookout tower gives excellent views of Winberry and Fall Creek drainages. Water is only available at the shelter. On the hike back we took time to have Charlene identify the various flowers and mushrooms. Those hikers enjoying the trip were Charlene Simpson, and John and Pete Cecil, leader.
