Scott Mountain

August 14, 1977

The group arrived from Eugene at McKenzie Bridge at 9:15 a.m. to meet the leader and four guests from England. Left for Scott Mountain in pouring down rain. Arrived at trailhead and no rain there. Started out on new trail that goes by Benson Lake. Stopped there for a short break. Picked up the old trail ¼ mile past Benson Lake. Arrived on top at 1:15 p.m. for lunch, spent about an hour viewing the mountains all around us and a storm to the east. Also spotted a small fire near Twin Craters. On the way back we stopped at Tenas Lake—some went swimming and some just wading while others watched. All enjoyed this stop. We arrived back at the cars at 5:00 p.m. A real pleasant hike was enjoyed by all. As our English guests said “a smashing good time” was had by all: Barb Combs, Emmy Dale, Barbara Durchanek, Donna Ferchland, Keith Hatch, Henrietta Richmond, Dot Leland, Larry Pagter, Lois Schreiner, Bob Sincouge, Helen Smith, Shirley Sylvester, Mike, Eileen, Clive and Martin Haynes from England, and leader Carol Bourgerie.
