Jeff Park

August 5-7, 1977

Left on Trailhead (end of Forest Road #1044) at 3:45 p.m. Friday and arrived at Scout Lake at 8:00 p.m. (5 miles) on schedule. Saturday tour (about six miles round trip) was to Park Ridge—(on Skyline Trail #2000, elevation gain approx. 1100 feet, trail in good repair). Excellent view of Jeff Park, Mt. Jefferson and Park Butte plus area to the north to Breitenbush Lake areas. Back to camp (4:00 p.m.) in time to “secure” ahead of a short thunder and light rain.

The Heimans, Karen and Fred, joined us at camp just as we got back there Saturday evening. They came into Jeff Park via Breiteribush route with the dubious help of “100 Trails in Oregon”; camped with us and hiked with us on Sunday. Sunday a.m.—a tour of Jeff Park. We missed “1000 springs” because the leader had not been there before, (nor this time)—However, many features otherwise. Back to camp and by 2:00 p.m. Sunday left on our way to cars at trailhead and hiked out in 3 hours.

The weekenders were Laurie Crews, Pat Diller, Robert Keller, Wes Prouty, Karen & Fred Heiman, Bill Seavey, Paula Vehrs, Lois Schreiner and leader Clarence Landes.
