Rooster Rock

April 24, 1977

The first trip of the season to leave under Daylight Savings Time had its troubles. First, the leader Lois Schreiner had to find a substitute, then of 18 people signed up six failed to make it probably because of the time change. However, the party which did leave town at 8:00 a.m. in three cars had a pleasant trip to the trailhead. We arrived on top by noon, then on our way back down we took the Trout Creek trail—all of us but the three car drivers. This was a good trail which gradually dropped down to the highway. The wild orchids were in bloom but the water course which we usually have at the beginning of the trail was completely dry. We did find a few small snow drifts on top. The twelve hikers were Dan Birdeen, Clara Emlen, Ron Golan, Sandy Hitala, Anne Montgomery, Rich Muller, Terry Plaisted, Dee Mazany, Judith MacInnis, Jean and Jim Tattersall and leader Helen Smith.
