For the second year in a row the day after Christmas Spencer Butte hike turned
out quite extra special.
On the way up we hiked right along side a beautiful rainbow.
This was golden afternoon.
We found the summit brisk and windy, overcast but no rain; rosy cheek weather.
We stayed on top for about forty-five minutes enjoying coffee and snacks and a
limited view of the valley.
Then down we went via the southeast route, deer tracks on the trail.
Twelve-year old Thatcher Trombley led us most of the way down and did a fine job
of keeping track of everyone.
