Proxy & McKenzie FallsJune 20, 1976We parked and hiked the short trail to the upper and lower Proxy Falls (on the old McKenzie Pass Highway). The trail was interesting as there were many windblown or blow-down trees which the Forest Service had cut from the trail only a few days before. We next explored White Branch Falls (near where the old “last chance” gas pump used to be.) They had more water in them than I had ever seen. Then we drove to inspect the brand new $3.00 campgrounds at the lower end of Clear Lake. Very nice, but we saved our lunch to eat close to the rushing water above Sahalie Falls. The weather was perfect and everyone seemed happy. There were some who had never seen these falls before. There were 13 of us in four cars: Lawrence and Mable Hawkins, Ellen Jackson, Arthur M. Johnson, Man Wai Lau, Herbert & Evelyn McCornack, leaders, Art Porter, Parker Riddle, Grace Smith, Phyllis Trowbridge, Thelma Watson. |
