U of O CampusJune 6, 1976We spent almost three hours in a self guided tour of a part of the older U of O campus, using “Trees of the Oregon Campus” as an authority. It is pretty cumbersome to use. The maps are such large scale one spends much time getting oriented on the next one. However, they are clear and very useful. We had no idea there were so many kinds of beech trees. Everyone agreed the campus is a wonderful arboretum, and that this trip should be done every year, perhaps every season. We covered only a portion of the campus. In the group: Svea Gold, Jane Hilt, Ellen Jackson, Regina Lautenschlagar, James Meeks, Ruth Nichols, Isabel Porter, Parker Riddle, Frank Riemer, Grace Smith, leader, Bob Walden, Helen Weiser. |
