Gordon Meadows

May 15, 1976

After a leisurely drive up the Mohawk valley, to Crawfordsville, then to Sweethome and Cascadia, we turned onto a short stretch of the old Santiam wagon road, then several miles of logging road to the snowline at about 4200 ft. elevation.

We treked through the snow to the meadow. By that time we had enough snow to discourage any attempt to try the trail to Gordon Lakes. We walked on around the meadow to the old shelter for lunch. Clear skies and warm sunshine made up for all the effort. We continued on around the meadow and back to the road, reaching the cars about 2:30.

The six snow-sloggers were, Chris Depee, Gladys Grancorvitz, Liz McMullin, Vern Nelson, Wes Prouty (leader), and Ted Stern.
