Deception Creek

Left Highway 58 (the Willamette) at the Deception Creek bridge, hiked upstream on an old trail which has been cleared out this past summer. About a mile in a side stream comes into Deception Creek which is difficult to cross. We managed to wade it then climbed out on an old log to finish our crossing. The trail climbs up this side canyon and finally enters an old clear cut where we stopped.

The weather was damp and the upper part of the trail was under snow. It was like going from spring back into winter as spring flowers were starting to bloom along the first part of the trail.

Hikers were, Mary Bridgeman, Peter Cecil, Helen Smith (leader), and Bob Walden.
