Heceta Beach

March 7, 1976

The trip left Eugene in showers which continued off and on all day. We met Margaret Markley in Florence and after viewing the storm damage at the north jetty of the Siuslaw we hiked along the beach northward to the mouth of Sutton Creek, observing the flotsam, erosion pattern, shells, and anything else of interest. We found a warm cottage to eat lunch in and then hiked into the dunes at the east end of Joshua Lane. The dunes were partly covered by vegetation and partly blowing freely. Despite the rain all seemed to enjoy the day.

On the trip were, Ewart Baldwin (leadder), Margaret Baldwin (co-leader), Loene Ellickson, Helen Hughes, Margaret Markley, Janice Pattison, Pat Pattison, Merle Traudt.
